Alpha Omega Academy Marks 20 Years as an Online Christian School
Rock Rapids, IA (August 14, 2012) - Alpha Omega Academy, a fully accredited private online school for grades K-12, announces the celebration of its 20th anniversary in 2012.
Since opening as a K-8 mail correspondence school in 1992, AOA has offered at-home students a Bible-based distance learning education, as well as teacher support, Christian curriculum from Alpha Omega Publications, and academic services. In 2000, the school was officially named Alpha Omega Academy.
Today, AOA serves over 2,300 students, including homeschoolers, at-home learners, student athletes and performers, children of military personnel, and missionaries. Students now choose from online, CD-ROM, or print curriculum, which are all teacher supported. They also have the option of full-time or part-time enrollment, and they can earn an official high school diploma. Regional graduation ceremonies also are available.
In addition, the academy has full accreditation through the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), an accrediting division of AdvancED, the world's most trusted and recognized accrediting organization, serving over 30,000 schools.
AOA's faculty is located both remotely and onsite at AOP's office in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Teacher services include grading and recordkeeping, direct instruction via technology, and periodic live online classrooms. Student-assigned advisors help with course selections, graduation tracks, and student progress checks.
"We're excited to celebrate this important milestone - 20 years of partnering with parents to provide a quality Christian education to students all over the nation and the world," said AOA principal Dr. Deborah Secord. "What an amazing responsibility!"
