Editor (Iowa)
Alpha Omega Publications is currently seeking an editor for full-time employment at its Rock Rapids, Iowa, corporate headquarters. This is meaningful work helping the marketing team produce a variety of materials for the Christian education market. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and able to accept responsibility, communicate effectively, and work independently as well as with team members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enhance and modify written copy to meet English standards and professional expectations.
- Help refine and correct written copy to meet project requirements, company initiatives, management priorities, and goals.
- Produce consistent finished copy for use in print and web platforms including, but not limited to: email marketing, e-newsletters, advertising, catalogs, websites, press releases, and packaging.
- Implement and deliver edited copy as needed to designers and web developers/programmers.
- Do final proof of all materials ready for publication to check for accuracy in all details.
- Know standards, technologies, and trends, and formulate strategies and plans for future enhancement of copy.
- Ensure that edited copy is delivered within deadlines and meets quality standards.
- Further develop the AOP Style Guide for reference by in-house and contract writers.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (Required):
- A bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or similar field is preferred.
- Candidate should have strong computer skills and be well versed in Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel, and Communicator.
- Great attention to detail and accuracy is vital.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills are necessities.
- Time management skills are required in order to handle several projects at once, all in various stages.
- Candidate should have a desire to meet project schedules and improve project quality.
- This person must be able to work as a team member or independently.
- Position requires flexibility and a willingness to learn team processes and systems.
- Familiarity or experience with marketing, business, and/or Christian education is preferred.
