Social Media Specialist

Alpha Omega Publications® is seeking a talented, creative, and passionate Social Media Specialist to develop and implement social media strategies. Job activities include creating podcasts, advertising online, maintaining blogs, developing and implementing SEO strategies, social networking, social bookmarking, and handling website submissions. In addition, the Social Media Specialist will participate in several online communities, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, and YouTube, on a daily basis.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate an enthusiastic and team-oriented work ethic with the flexibility and willingness to take on any task. Candidates also must be resourceful and intuitive problem solvers with strong written and verbal communication skills. In addition, qualified applicants should be detail-oriented, display a forward-thinking and positive outlook, have the ability to multitask, and offer strategic creative solutions for emerging forms of e-communication.

This position calls for collaboration within the Creative Marketing Group, other departments, colleagues, and business partners to determine goals and timelines. Candidates must be self-starters who show the initiative in finding and communicating the information and details related to all projects. Competitive salary and a benefits package are offered. The job location is 35 miles east of the beautiful city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Solid knowledge and experience in marketing, new online public relations tools, social networking websites, blogs, and online tools.

· Ability to use a broad spectrum of resources, including print, web/intranet, email, and videoconferencing, as well as "web 2.0" online resources like wikis, social networking websites, blogs, search engines, and free online press release distribution services. The Social Media Specialist will also use del.icio.us, Technorati, and e-pitching technologies like MMNRs, PR Trak, ProfNet, Bacon's Media Resource, PR Newswire, Multi-Vu, ARA Content, E-Watch, Omniture, and MediaATLAS.

· Experience with marketing via blogs, widgets, and other social networking media.

· Ability to maintain and increase professional knowledge of the latest trends, practices, programs, and applications evolving in social media/networking.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· Associate's degree in marketing, communications, e-media, or a related field. Suitable work experience may be accepted in place of a degree.

· Experience in social networking application development is highly desirable. Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in utilizing social network tools and platforms beyond casual use.
