PHP Web Developer - Iowa
Position Description:
The primary job responsibility for the web developer position is to provide PHP programming and functionality for a web based curriculum delivery application. You will be challenged on a daily basis to solve problems in new and creative ways.
A successful candidate will have demonstrable experience building real online applications in a PHP/MySQL environment and will be able to make a meaningful contribution from day one. You will be comfortable working with team members at all levels and departments within the organization. You will be willing to share your opinions and insights with business leaders in order to affect rapid decision cycles and effective technical solutions to business requirements. This candidate must be comfortable documenting or assist in documentation design, functional specifications, and business rules. They also should be willing to participate in regular code reviews and implementing code standards. Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or commensurate work experience
• PHP web application development
• Object-Oriented programming background
• DBA experience with MySQL
• Proficient in Web services / SOAP / REST / XML
• Advance knowledge of (X)HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Relevant W3C standards and best practices
• Ability to follow coding standards
• Ability to document system functions as needed
• Ability to translate business requirements into system design
• Ability to partner and work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
• Strong debugging skills and the ability to easily and quickly read and modify existing code
Additional Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of PHP frameworks including Zend and Kohana
• Working knowledge of JavaScript frameworks including Mootools and jQuery
• Strong understanding of page lifecycles in both WAMP and LAMP stacks
