7 Ways to Spread Kindness in Your Community

Whether you’re celebrating one of the many national days devoted to impacting others for the better or just looking for a way to improve an ordinary afternoon for someone you love, discover seven thoughtful ways to surprise your friends, family members, and fellow homeschoolers with random acts of kindness.

1. Offer to host an evening play date at your home so a fellow homeschool couple can enjoy an evening out together.

2. Help an elderly church member run errands. Get the kids involved by having them make the list, help with shopping, or keep the individual company while you run to the store.

3. Compliment your spouse’s parenting and/or teaching abilities in an unexpected and meaningful way.

4. If you live in an area that receives a lot of snow, shovel your neighbor’s driveway before he gets home from work. If not, offer to mow his lawn some day this week.

5. Get a head start on spring cleaning by donating gently-used items from your toy box and closets to families in need.

6. Treat your children to an extra hour at the park, a movie they’ve been wanting to see, or another pastime they enjoy.

7. Thank a mentor who helped you start your homeschooling adventure. Send them a card, give them a call, or take them out to coffee to chat and say thanks.
