AOP Wins Practical Homeschooling 2011 Reader Awards

Alpha Omega Publications® was recently awarded two prestigious Practical Homeschooling® 2011 Reader Awards. Based on ratings compiled from hundreds of homeschoolers who read Practical Homeschooling magazine, Horizons Math curriculum received an honorable mention in the elementary math category, and the LIFEPAC® Family & Consumer Science elective for grades 7-12 placed third in the domestic science category.

Horizons Math is well-known for its colorful workbooks, brightly illustrated lessons, and user-friendly teacher's guides and has won numerous other academic awards, including Cathy Duffy's 100 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum. This year, AOP expanded its Horizons Math line by adding Horizons Pre-Algebra to prepare students for upper-level math.

"The award is nice, but our focus always has been on developing materials that prepare students for future success," said Al Christopherson, vice president of curriculum development. "It has been thrilling to see the variety of types of students who have been successful in Horizons Math."

Taught from a Christian perspective, LIFEPAC Family & Consumer Science is a year-long, mastery-based elective that gives students lifelong skills in cooking, cleaning, decorating, handling personal finances, caring for children, and more. Family & Consumer Science is one of over 15 popular electives that can be added to the five core subjects of Bible, math, history and geography, science, and language arts in the LIFEPAC curriculum.
