AOP's June 2012 Homeschool Parent of the Month is Carla Burnette of Leicester, North Carolina. Sometimes it only takes one caring person in life to make a huge difference. Such was the circumstance the day when a weary and frustrated homeschooling mom reached out and called Carla Burnette. Although a busy mom homeschooling two children, Carla took time to be an encourager.
"She offered to meet us at the playground where we ate a picnic lunch and our children played together," said Carla's nominator. "She encouraged our whole family, and we had a break from our stressful day. She didn't hesitate to help us even though it interrupted her day."
A great reminder for us all, Carla's unselfish actions are something every homeschooler needs in a mentor and friend. As is says in Ecclesiastes 4:10, "If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!"
