God's Provisions

"Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me" (Micah 7:7).

Preparing for the new school year started early in our home. Lesson plans needed to be made for each child, and boxes of new and used curriculum needed to be sorted. As I began to look ahead into my son's ninth grade science, I realized we were missing a very important component to a successful year — a quality microscope. For the past several years, we had managed with an inexpensive model, but a serious study in biology required something better. However, with my homeschooling budget already spent on curriculum, I had no idea how we could afford this additional expense.

Throughout the remainder of the summer, I continued to worry over the situation. On several occasions, I attempted to lay the burden at my Lord's feet and leave it there, but then the waves of anxiety would creep over me again. Soon, only a week remained before our scheduled start date for school, and more or less, I gave up on the dream of having a new microscope. Even my idea of sharing a microscope between several homeschooling families was turned down by my friends.

That weekend, however, God took me to His schoolroom to teach me a valuable lesson about His timetable and provision. My brother, who was a medical doctor, called unexpectedly, and somehow we got onto the topic of science during our conversation. By chance (I don't think so), he mentioned he had a microscope left over from his pre-med days in college, and he promised to send it to my son. Thinking it was probably somewhat similar to what we had now, both my son and I were amazed when we opened my brother's package on the first day of school. There, in all its glory, sat a high-tech, state-of-the-art scientific microscope complete with glass slides and other lab paraphernalia. My eyes filled with tears as I realized again God's unfailing blessings on our homeschool. Yes, if we learn to wait on the Lord, He is never early nor late in sending us exactly what we need. "For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him" (Isaiah 64:4).

Lord, Your loving faithfulness is too high to comprehend and too wonderful to understand! Thank You for guiding our family while we homeschool and always sending what we need, when we need it. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

This is what I needed to hear this morning as I am reminded that He is never early nor late! I can count on His faithfulness in the prayer I lay at His feet each day!! I too have seen God work in mysterious ways - ways that I would have never been able to conceive - yet when He shows up - He does so with such majesty and splendor! After reading the devo I will start my morning praising God for HIS perfect timing!! Thank you!

So blessed by this! God is so good, He always provides for our needs. Where God guides, He provides. Thank you for reminding me of the truth. Now, do you think He will provide someone to organize my curriculum for me? :)

What a blessing! As usual, the Lord sent your blessing at His perfect time to remind me not only to lay my burdens down, but to leave them there and trust in Him.

Thank you for reminding me of God's love and his abilities. Before I opened this email I was stressing about how I was going to pay for all the supplies and needs for my Mom, as I recently had to put her into assisted living. Even though we have her social security it is still costing us more than I planned on. I just received another bill for 78.00 on top of all the others. It just put me over. I am giving it to the Lord, as I know he will provide a way for me to cover all these unexpected bills. Thank you God Bless

I have been homeschooling now for 3 yrs. One year of that time was spent with no jobs in the house. Someone from church knew what curriculum I was using and she has 3 children that are 1 yr ahead of mine. She put the entire curriculum on my door step. It was all I needed and FREE. The next yr a Christian school provided the same curriculum for FREE because they were changing. If I would have paid both times for this it would have cost about $1600. God\'s plan has been made clear each year by His provisions to continue despite our money situation. We also remained on time with all payments during the job loss. He placed people in our path in HIS TIME. Often we want things at our time, but God says He will supply all our needs.....He doesn\'t say it will be on our schedule. Oh how I love him for teaching me patience. Thank you God for providing.

Thank you for this devotion. It\'s a good reminder as we enter this school year and I\'m still needing supplies for reading that I just need to wait on my Lord and quit worrying about it.

Todays Devotional was a nice reminder of the times we have been in need and God provided,( which is almost always).

My Car died out abbout 10 years ago. my son was about 3 yrs old, and had alot of Doctor appointments. And not just close by appointments, we had to drive over an hour to Shriners hospital for 3 of his doctors, on top of the ones in town.

My Brother generously offered my his 2nd car, a \"Saturn\", but, it was a stick shift, I didn\'t know how to drive a stick shift car.

So, I sat down and prayed \"Lord either teach me how to drive this stickshift, or please provide a car I can drive or (kinda cringing) if we aren\'t meant to have a car at this time, then let it be your will\".

If you know me, you would know that the \"let it be your will\" part was and still is the hardest part of the prayer for me.

Off to the Store parking lot we went, my brother, myself and my son. It was after hours so I wouldn\'t chance hitting anyone in my driving lesson.

After a few hours, we all tired out, gave up and went home.

Next, my Mother said an answer ghad come to her. And it truly had. We went to go see an aquaintance of hers, a Good and Godly Man.

We left that day with a car, no charge. After a few years that car died out, actually it was danaged more than anything, after our fire.

My Mom gave me my Dad\'s car after he had passed away. Now, being my Dad\'s car was old, it would need repairs, ones that I surley could not afford.

The same man who gave me the other car. fixes the car we still drive, to this day.

So, ask, and you shall recieve. God\'s timing is always perfect, and he provides exactly what we need.

Thank you Jesus! Amen.

I have home-schooled our children for 20 years. Truly God does provide---but not always what we think we need. There have been many times that I have had to school the children without the \"much needed\" materials. Even though I have prayed hard, the materials did not always come through. It always seemed that I was doing a shoddy job because I felt like I couldn\'t give them everything that they needed. Somehow using materials from the library didn\'t work out as well as I had hoped.

Nevertheless---God has been bringing each of them into a good place and has helped them to find their way in life. Our oldest daughter just graduated from college with a double major in piano and music composition (summa cum laude). She is now entering a conservatory for graduate studies. Our second daughter has been working at an excellent restaurant as their baker. Our third is in nursing school and is doing quite well and our fourth daughter has been accepted at a small Bible college where she is planning to study missions and discipleship. Our only one left at home is our one and only son, and we are waiting to see what wonderful things God will do in his life.

I am not sharing this to brag--only to point out that even when we think we can\'t do justice to the job of educating our children without certain materials, etc., God is still at work and knows precisely what we---and our children need.

I look back now and realize that if it were not for God\'s hand at work in their lives, my children would not be anywhere. I can\'t take the credit for their education. It is God\'s mercy alone!

I enjoyed this reading SO much! It helps me to recognize how the Lord provided a Math workbook for my child\'s summer learning. I chose it after a lady, whom I just befriended recently at church, showed me the material. The God factor is that her son isn\'t homeschooled, but in addition to public school work his parents give him supplemental curriculum to do at home. And what she showed me worked great for us! The Lord IS our Provider! Thank you, Lord!

Praise the Lord! Isn\'t He awesome!! I had the same thing happen to me just this week. I was talking to a friend about my son\'s phonics program from abeka and I didn\'t even know I needed the readers and workbooks. Well come to find out my other friend had all the materials for me to borrow, all I have to do is spend $30 on his workbooks which God is providing for this week since we have a 5 week month, we can afford the extra money going out from my husband\'s paycheck!!
