Kudos to You

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us" (Hebrews 12:1).

Homeschooling is a challenge, a commitment, and a lifestyle of love and devotion. As a fellow homeschooling parent, my heart goes out to those who continue to faithfully teach their children at home. You are not alone in your efforts. I, along with thousands of homeschoolers who have run this race and reached the finish line, cheer you on each step. At times, homeschooling can be tiring and seem like a thankless job as you face hurdles of opposition, but those of us who have run the race know what you're doing is important. With great respect, we pray you'll keep going to the end to experience the wonderful blessings of helping your child rise to his gifting by God.

As Christians, Hebrews 12:1 tells us that we also have another crowd cheering us on. The great men and women of faith in Hebrews 11, along with thousands of other believers are cheering you on in your spiritual race. This cloud of witnesses watches and knows the blessings waiting for you in this life and in heaven. Like young Timothy following in the footsteps of Paul, "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses" (1 Timothy 6:12).

Is your faith being tested today? Do you feel like giving up instead of standing firm in what you know to be true according to God's Word? Don't despair! You have a great cloud of witnesses who have gone down this same path before you. Let the Holy Spirit and the encouragement of their faithful lives fill you with the strength you need to finish your spiritual race.

Lord, thank You for the countless lives of missionaries, martyrs, and believers who have remained true to You and Your Word throughout time. Encourage me today to take heart and stand strong as I face the daily battles of homeschooling. In Jesus' name, Amen.

This devotional today has helped me some. I'm struggling to continue homeschooling as my health isn't good and I've spent a lot of time in the hospital and my kids have never wanted to be homeschooled and don't work if I don't stay on top of them. so the last year was wasted, since they are in high school, it really counts. I'm so tempted to let them fail and go back to school in 9th grade, the embarassment would be awful, but how can I. Since they are 16 they can quit, they just don't know it. Please pray for me, I"m so tired and so not able to do this any more. I need God and his people now more than ever and I don't have a home chuch. Please keep me in your prayers, as I'm at a crossroads I've never been at before. I've never felt like such a failure and so completely unable to do what I believe I should and so tempted just give up. Thank you, Cherie

I will pray for you Cherie O. Seems like todays devotional was very fitting for both of us! I will pray that the Lord changes the hearts of your children so that they may embrace homeschooling and "rise up and called you blessed..." (Proverbs 31:28)

Yesterday was DAY 1 of homeschooling for my 13rd old daughter. She was heading down the wrong path in public middle school so I pulled her against her will, knowing full well that a battle would insue. I am remarried, my ex- her father and his family are all very vocally opposed to me homeschooling and have convinced her that it is a bad education and that I am doing it to make MY life easier, instead of seeing the HUGE sacrifice that I am making for the sake of giving my daughter a better life than the public schools offer. They are NOT Christian and oppose that I am raising her as one as well. They have sued for custody twice in her short life and now are threatening again if I don't put her back in school. Please pray for the Lord's protection of her and my family! I prayed about this homeschooling decision for over 6 months and gave her many, many chances to prove that she could handle staying in public school by good grades and good decision making, yet she kept declining further. My heart is breaking for the battle that she is in-I feel that I am literally playing tug o' war with Satan and the world for my daughter. Even though their is HUGE conflict and opposition-I believe that the Lord lead me to do this and I have peace and faith that it was the right thing to do. It won't be easy-but it will be worth it!

You don't know how much this means to me after a social worker's unexpected visit to our home caused bleeding while carrying our 6th baby and I ended up in the hospital. The fear that we could loose all 6 of our precious gifts set me into a whirlwind of emotions. To make matters worst the accusations came from the ultrasound tec./Dr. I had seen just days earlier. I want to always stand strong in the Lord and have taught the children to always do like wise. We are praying it will all be over soon but while at the hospital I thanked my parents over and over for the good up bringing they have given me to walk the straight and narrow way of Christ. I know this is my biggest weapon against the fiery darts of the devil.

I don't know if any of you are reading the comments after you have posted your own, but I plead the blood of Jesus Christ over each of you, your minds and your children. What the Lord has given you no man can take away. You are covered and I am covered by Jesus and His blood, there is no match to His power and I stand firm against the attacks of the enemy against your families in Jesus' Name, the Name above all names. He is King and He is victorious in you and your childrens lives and in me and my chrildrens lives. God is good all of the time!!! Charles J.T. I speak life and peace and health to you and your baby in your womb in Jesus' Name! Amen!

SHERRI O 05/02/2010 05:30:16

Thank you Elisha-I needed that!

Charles J. T.-I have been there with DCF from false accusations. I feel your pain! Those children are given to you by God and no-one but Him can take them away. Also, Ezekiel 16:6 is a powerful scripture to pray over your wife and your baby in her womb. God bless you.

I wanted all of you to know (Cheri, Sherrie, and Charles J. T.) that I will hold your situations up in prayer today. Greater is He that is in You than He that is in the world.

I am finishing my 29th year of homeschooling and have 5 more years to go! As a now single parent of 9 children I often feel so burned out and depressed. Only God can keep me going til I finish this race.

Cherie I am praying for you! You are not a failure at all. Homeschooling through the hard times is such an awesome sacrifice to God. I will pray for you right now that you are surrounded by help and the encouragment of others.

LAURA B 05/02/2011 08:47:05

Cherie, I am praying for you. I have been there with my health and trying to homeschool my daughter. I picked high school to start out on homeschooling. It was a hard year. I pray angels surround you and help you.
