Dry Times

Have you ever experienced those moments during your homeschooling year when creativity seems to have shriveled? You know your lessons, but the inspiration on how to make them fun has dried up. Your children have already done the suggested activities in your teacher's manuals, and they need something new. You try to think of what to do, but the ideas are just not there.

The only way to find that creativity again is to go to the Creator. Jesus has the market on creative genius! "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him" (Colossians 1:16).

The Holy Spirit can also help you tap into the juices that can make your homeschooling day exciting again — divine inspiration that is custom-made for your children and you. "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things" (John 14:26a).

Lord, thank You for being such a loving and creative God. I humbly come to You today and ask for Your help with homeschooling. Show me what to do and how to teach, so my children learn what they need to know. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thanks you for the reminder that I am not alone in this. I didn't feel dry this morning but tired and "stuck in a rut". So much "life" going on around our school it's hard to focus, but God is here and we will persevere. We may not learn everything on my agenda but He will teach us what we need to know to carry out His agenda. Praise God for His Spirit who guides us.

Love this! This is our first year homeschooling and I pray daily for direction to help my son learn and to develop a love for learning. I pray for patience and creativity so that when he struggles with something I can find a way to help that doesn't make him want to give up dislike learning. The first few weeks we had our ups and downs, but, we've settled into a good routine and I've learned to relax!

This is just what I needed. I am not a very creative person to begin with so I need the Lord's help every step of the way and this is such a great reminder.

I am so glad that your devotionals always lead us back to the Lord, rather than a new method or curriculum. I regularly need this reminder that HE'S my Answer and Help. Thank you.
