Girls on the Run Teaches Physical and Emotional Health
In our social media-obsessed culture, our young girls are facing societal pressures at a younger age than ever. Online bullying, preoccupation with appearance, and feeling isolated are all real challenges for young girls today.
With the desire to make a difference at a critical stage, Girls on the Run has developed a program to strengthen the confidence of young girls while teaching them the connection between physical and emotional health.
A nonprofit organization, Girls on the Run combines social-emotional instruction with physical training to help girls from grades 3-8 set and meet goals while learning to manage their emotions and connect meaningfully with other girls.
Through exercises and discussions with coaches and team members, girls are taught to discover the amazing potential within them. At the culmination of each season, the girls run a 5K to celebrate the physical and emotional achievements.
