Healing a Nation

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority" (1 Timothy 2:1-2a).

As a homeschooling parent, do you have a burden for your child's future as a United States citizen? As I watched the decay of morality in our nation during my short lifetime, my heart grieved for my children and what they would face during their adult years. Sin's influence has been accepted and legislated into laws that wreak havoc in families, businesses, and governments. Today, homeschoolers, as well as all Christians, have the privilege to unite during the National Day of Prayer. Together, we can proclaim our faith in God and the need for prayer to bring our country back to "one nation under God."

Throughout the Old Testament, we read how God removed His hand of blessing when Israel failed to worship God as He commanded. Forgetting He was the source of their blessings when times were good, they repeatedly "did that which was right in his own eyes" (Judges 21:25b). Today, the world is not much different. Society makes its own rules for what is right and wrong, and the nation suffers, as people put their trust in men rather than in God. God continues to call out as in days of old, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land" (2 Chronicles 7:14).

What about your family? Do you actively pray for those in authority in your city, state, and federal governments? If ever our country needed prayer, it's now! Take a moment now to pray as a homeschooling family. "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof" (2 Timothy 3:1-5a).

Father, like the prophets of old, we cry for mercy and forgiveness for a nation that has forgotten You. Bring our country back to You in repentance and use our homeschooling family to intercede for those who have the power to make the changes that will glorify You. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Oh how we need to pray, but also for God's will to be done. Jesus' second coming may not be far and for many it is welcomed. We may be closer than we all think with the decline of morals and values I'm sure our Father grieves.

I so appreciate these daily devotions-that always seem to come at just the right time for us! We should definitely be in prayer for our leaders-we are commanded to do so. However, we must also be careful not to apply passages that are specifically for Israel to America. In the Chronicles passage, God was speaking to Solomon about Israel. Even though we are a chosen people as Christians, there are only two types of nations referred to in the Bible; Israel and the "gentile nations". America has been greatly blessed by God, but we are among the gentile nations. Israel is the only nation that is chosen by God and a remnant from them will be saved in the end-as a nation. We should be praying for God's Sovereign will to be done-and come, Jesus, come!!

Our little homeschool family always prays that our Father\'s will be done. We have been told that these days would come, when man\'s love for one another would wax cold, etc. I agree that our Lord\'s return is VERY close!...but I feel so sorry for those who call themselves Christian, yet they have no idea that the false Christ comes 1st. Our nation...our whole world is in perilous times because it is ALL part of God\'s plan, the negative part, which is necessary so the 1 world system (1st \'beast\' of Rev.) can come into being. STAND on the True Rock! Wait for the True Christ! God IS still on the throne, He sees ALL, and He CANNOT lose!

My 9 year old just read the above comment (Bari M) and she asked me to include this: There are 12 tribes of Israel- Judah is but ONE. WE, the free peoples of America are actually NOT the Gentiles. The 10 northern tribes which God scattered ended up migrating to Europe, and then the Americas. Judah is our brother----but WE ARE ISRAEL! God BLESS the USA! :-D

America is part of the lost 10 tribes of Israel. When the bible refers to Israel, it is speaking of Jacob - whose name was changed to Israel - and his sons - the twelve tribes of Israel. We are of the tribe of Manasseh (Britian is Ephriam). Read in Genesis 48 and 49. The blessings promised to Joseph, their father, in Genesis 49, were given to them in Genesis 48. If you would like to find further scripture references for this information, you can go to www.TomorrowsWorld.org and look for the booklet \"The United States and Great Britian in Prophecy\".

Kathy and Jennifer you are right. Hence the reason we are always referred to as lost. With that comes great responsibility. That also means that he will bless us and also punish us when we disobey, which is what is happening today.Praying that he brings us into repentence and back into his holy presence. Where he always forgives and shows us grace and mercy. Praying for all of Gods people scattered abroad to rise up and repent and PRAY,PRAY,PRAY. Amen.

Amen, godly authority from the top down is what America needs! Prayers coupled with righteousness is a must because rules without relationship leads to disobedience and rebellion.
