Michele Barrell
A homeschooling mother with nine children, Michele Barrell is, without a doubt, an inspiration.

"Having, raising, and homeschooling nine children is an inspiration to all moms," said her friend and nominator, "but what makes her most admirable is her close walk with Jesus and her continual willingness to share His love to those around her."

Michele is grateful for the opportunity and freedom to teach her children for the past 18 years, but she is also the first to humbly admit that "homeschooling is not always easy or a perfect education."

Michele's four oldest children have already graduated from their studies at home. Jessica is now a junior at a Bible college in Spokane, Washington, Kirstyn is employed as a local restaurant manager, Jonathan will be leaving soon for boot camp to become a Marine, and Zachary will attend college in Indiana this fall to pursue a career in nursing.

The greatest desire of Michele and her husband, John, is that their children know Jesus and love Him above all things. Currently, she is homeschooling the younger five who range in age from 6 to 13, and she is busy preparing for the start of this year's homeschooling.

"We have been using LIFEPAC and SOS for the past ten years," said Michele. "Homeschooling so many, I have needed a curriculum that meets all of our needs. It's friendly for the children to work on independently, points to Jesus and God's truth, and covers what they need to learn."

Michele also said they were especially grateful for AOP when their son expressed an interest in the United States Marine Corp.

"When our eldest son signed up for the Marines, they didn't trust his homeschool education," she said. "We had to include names and addresses to all of our curriculum suppliers, and we were thankful we had used AOP, a reputable company the Marines were willing to accept."

Acknowledging her special homeschooling abilities and talents, as well as her encouraging and generous heart, Alpha Omega Publications honors Michele Barrell as September's Homeschool Parent of the Month!
