Homeschool Resolutions

While new year resolutions are most often associated with the flip of the calendar to January 1, the start of a new school year is also an excellent time to reflect and make your own homeschool resolutions.

For AOP Facebook follower named Endless Education, she is combining those two concepts.

"We're starting the next school year in January,” she wrote, “so we’ll do unit 1s in month 1 and we'll end the year in October doing our unit 10s in month 10. Doing school stuff through the summer makes more sense for us and keeping units aligned with months keeps grading and recording way easier. Plus, taking a break during holiday and winter season eliminates excess stress during a time we should be cherishing each other.”

In addition to Endless Education’s new approach, try incorporating these 10 simple homeschool resolutions from Big Family Blessings blogger Amanda McDowell into your homeschool this year.

1. Make more time for fun.

2. Read every day.

3. Do more art.

4. Go outside more.

5. Take more field trips.

6. Do more experiments.

7. Teach more lessons with hands-on activities.

8. Allow your kids to be kids.

9. Use sensory play.

10. Start a habit of trying new things more often.
