Horizons Physical Education

Horizons Physical Education, available for preschool through 12th grade, is a comprehensive curriculum that will complete your child's studies in the core academic subjects (math, science, language arts, Bible, and history and geography) with an education in healthy living from a Christian perspective. Because the physical body is created in the image of God, this in-depth curriculum incorporates lessons and activities that encourage both parent and child to value and view the body as a God-given possession to be used for His glory. The Horizons Physical Education curriculum is divided into four teacher's guides: PreK-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, 6th-8th grade, and 9th-12th grade. Each in-depth teacher's guide contains helpful outlines, materials, and goals, plus time-saving resources such as teacher instructions, sample lesson plans, and daily student activities. Focusing on physical fitness that teaches a child to remain active for life, the following information is covered in each grade level:
PreK " 2nd Grade " Age appropriate games, responsible play, muscular and skeletal systems, body terms, and fitness techniques.
3rd " 5th Grade " Anatomy, physiology, flexibility training, games and coordination courses, and controlling skills with manipulatives.
6th " 8th Grade " Team and recreational sports such as soccer, volleyball, football, basketball, tennis, wrestling, golf, hockey, skiing, and more, plus health knowledge and fitness activities.
9th " 12th Grade " Exercise and nutrition, first aid, sports and competition, fitness programs, alcohol and drug awareness, and general health maintenance to cover a lifespan.
