How Much Are You Planning to Spend for Valentine’s Day?

True love is priceless. Perhaps that’s why 44% of Americans in a recent survey said they planned to not spend a dime this Valentine’s Day. However, for those planning a little something to something elaborate, you may be curious where your spending falls compared to the average American.

For the answer, Opportunity Financial conducted a survey of nearly 2,500 people and discovered that this year’s estimated average was just $33.64. Broken down by gender, men planned on spending $41.38, while women planned to spend $25.85 on average.

Not surprisingly, young adults from the ages of 18-24 ranked as the lowest spending age group followed by people over 65. On the other hand, the most generous lovers were aged between 55 and 64.

The survey also ranked the highest-spending states. At the bottom of the list were Alaska and North Dakota, whose representatives unanimously planned to spend nothing this year.
