Let's Play

"The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing" (Zephaniah 3:17).

The favorite words of every young girl or boy are "Do you want to go play?" What homeschooled child can resist an enthusiastic mother or father who wants to ride a bike, hide in tree houses, or dig in sand boxes? Our children love leaving the academic schoolwork behind and spending time together just having fun!

Can you let go of adult responsibilities to have a moment of fun on your children's level? Let your children push you until you're dizzy on a merry-go-round, skip stones on the edge of a lake, play dolls or cowboys, or make tents together out of blankets and the living room chairs on a rainy afternoon. Leave the dirty dishes and unmade beds and go play a board game, work a puzzle, walk outside, throw a frisbee, or swing on the swings. There is still a child in all of us who knows how to play!

God in heaven wants us to have fun being His child, too. Although we need to reverence our Holy God, serious and somber-faced Christians sometimes lose the joy and excitement of living for Jesus. Psalm 17:8 says we are the apple of God's eye, and He delights in us. When was the last time you really had fun being a Christian? Let the message of God's love and salvation in Christ cause you to rejoice again and sing praises today! "O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods" (Psalm 95:1-3).

Jesus, thank You for reaching down in Your greatness to love and forgive me. The joy of knowing I am loved by You fills me with such happiness. Living for You is so much fun! In Your name I pray, Amen.

How true it is...to play and play and play! Childhood is soo precious and yet we as parents find all the excuse of how we are so busy and dont have the time or energy to just let go of our daily schedules and just play! I am totally guilty of this and need to learn to relax more and enjoy my kids...thanks for the reminder and encouragement!

Tanya...may I ask what is \'TV Tag\'?

1 Kings 10:8

Happy [are] thy men, happy [are] these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, [and] that hear thy wisdom.

Job 5:17

Behold, happy [is] the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

Psalm 128:2

For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy [shalt] thou [be], and [it shall be] well with thee.

We should be holy examples to our children and teach them it is a blessing, privilege and fun to work honestly and not shirk daily duties. If we do a study about the word \'happy\' in our bibles, we\'ll see it\'s different than what we think it is; what is fun is to go out to make crafts as a family count - make shawls or something of use for someone, the elderly...visit a widow or orphanage...if you live on a farm host city kids/orphans for a weekend; visit the widows and orphans, look why Sodom and Gomorrah was really destroyed it may surprise you. They did not unburden the poor, etc. Look up the reasons for yourselves. Help out as a family in a care facility, let your children learn to play with children who can not walk, who do not have legs or arms...take them to hospitals with simple board games or wii systems and play \'sports\' with the elderly or kids with cancer etc. This pleases Christ and we should aim to please God first, not ourselves and be good examples of it.

D. White\'s wife; preemies need things most people can make and donate throughout the year; just call your local NICU (newborn intensive care unit) and ask what they need. If you have cards with cheerful pictures you can make tags for the nurses to put a baby\'s name on it and tape it to their incubator. That\'s just another thought.

I am homeschooling a pre-schooler. We have a blast most of the time. It\'s easy to make most of our educational activities playful. I may need this reminder later though when he is required to be more studious. Have fun homeschooling your kids. I\'m new to all of this and I am havig such a good time, I can\'t help but feel like others are missing out. What a blast!

Play is a GREAT thing! My son is 13, so some of the younger games aren\'t in his interest.

But, he begs me to play the \"Old fashioned Mario Bothers\" on the game thing. I always put it off, but the other night, I played and had so much fun, he was all played out and I wanted to keep going!!

We try and laugh and make little jokes throughout the day. Life is so very short here on earth, and our children grow so fast. We really need to have a good time in all we do.

And to the person a couple of posts above, it\'s a nice thought to have the kids visit the elderly and so on, and some of that can be done within your own family. \"My Pastor said take care of your family first\".

My Mother is a Widow and 75 years old. My son and I grocery shop for her, deliver and put the groceries away. My son takes out her garbage whenever we are there, he helps her with her gardening, helps her and I with all her projects (what he is able to do, he is special).

He REFUSES to take any money from her and never complains.

My son also spent over 8 weeks helping me and made 9 trips to the hospital with me via ambulance. Again, never complained, was patient and loving.

For me, I choose not to take him to Hopsitals and Nursing homes right now. He has had enough with me being ill, actually, I really believe that was too much for him. That last trip to the Hospital, I had My Aunt and Uncle ppick him up and take him to my Mom\'s. I think it was becoming to emotionally straining for him.

He is still a child.

I did give you a positive rating along with the rest of the writers today on the making cards for the babies, that is a nice idea, and wouldn\'t be traumatizing for my son. Your intentions are surley good. Do you do all that with your children? If so, I hope God Blesses your extra work that you all doing.

Everyone have a very Blessed and FUN Day!!
