Korrene Powers
In the few short years Korrene has been homeschooling her two young boys, she already displays a great aptitude for what it means to be a homeschooling mom. Using Alpha Omega Publications' kindergarten curriculum in an eclectic, custom-designed program for her five-year-old son, Korrene uses a hands-on approach that incorporates learning opportunities into all aspects of her family's daily lives. For instance, the day before the local power company came for a green audit of her home for a rebate, Korrene completed a course on energy usage and green power with her son. Then, on the day of the inspection, Korrene asked the technician to explain what he was doing, and her son enthusiastically soaked up the new information.

Making sure her two-year-old isn't left out during the homeschooling day, Korrene also diligently teaches him basic new words and incorporates sign language skills into his new vocabulary. As one homeschooling friend said, "It's awesome to see how they can have an entire conversation together with just their hands!"

For inspiring others with her heart-felt passion to give her best as a homeschooling parent and making a definite difference in the lives of her family and friends in Surfside Beach, South Carolina, Alpha Omega Publications honors Korrene Powers as AOP's March Homeschool Parent of the Month.
