Out in the Cold

"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." (John 15:5)

The new school year is here and you've planned and organized your school day and activities. All the school supplies are purchased and you are ready to begin " but wait! Have you scheduled time to be with the Lord each day to look to the one "who supplies all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus"? Have you chosen a "closet" for your quiet time to find the strength you will need?

Don't ignore the most important element of a successful homeschooling year " an obedient, spirit-filled parent who is loved and empowered by God. The relationship that you diligently seek to maintain with Christ will set the temperature for your children's educational success. If the thermostat of your heart is set too low because it's freezing from a neglected prayer life and devotions, your chilling teaching techniques will leave your children out in the cold.

A warm, loving attitude toward your homeschooling day only comes from being on fire for the Lord. Letting God love and fill you with His presence provides the peace, confidence, and assurance that no matter what happens, He will be there. Abiding in Christ is simply being with Him " loving, listening, and learning. Take all He has to give and bring it into your homeschool experience to discover a wonderful year of learning!

Father, I love You, Lord, and thank You for the task You've given me of loving Your children. Apart from You, I can do nothing. Please help me to draw on Your strength so we can bear all the fruit You desire. In Jesus' name. Amen.
