Pillow Talk

"But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God" (1 Corinthians 2:10).

As I opened my eyes to another homeschooling day, sunlight was just beginning to filter through my bedroom windows. Realizing that I had slept through the alarm, I quickly threw back the covers to jump out of bed and start breakfast. However, as I did, I was surprised to find my two youngest children snuggled in my blankets. Quietly waiting for me to wake up, they were holding a book and eager to continue reading the story we had only half finished the previous day. Smiling, I said, "Okay, let's just start school right now." Tucking each child in the blankets on either side of me, I opened their book, and we began to read together. For the next 30 minutes, we all enjoyed our unconventional classroom, and I thanked God again for the spontaneous joys of homeschooling.

Like the unexpected learning moments that occur in homeschooling, we never know when the Holy Spirit is going to speak to our hearts. As God impresses His Word upon our minds in Bible study or miraculously chooses to answer a specific request when we're on our knees in prayer, we experience a special touch of God's goodness and mercy. As we are snuggled in the warmth of our Father's love, the Holy Spirit teaches us the truth (John 16:13a) and gives us a taste of our future home in heaven (Ephesians 1:14). Even when we are at our weakest and God seems far away, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us "with groanings which cannot be uttered" (Romans 8:26b).

What a wonderful God we serve! Praise Him as He touches your life today with special moments of understanding and love. "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints" (Ephesians 1:17-18).

Heavenly Father, thank You for the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life. I praise You for the power and divine wisdom that comes from above, and I worship You for revealing Your will in my life each day. Please, draw me ever closer to You! In Jesus' name, Amen.

The daily focus letter is the first thing I look for when checking my email each day.The messages are always so inspiring, and give such wonderful thoughts to us everyday. This letter in particular touched my heart.I know how blessed I am everyday to homeschool my beautiful daughters, and spend so much precious time with them.Watching your child learn something new is truely witnessing a miracle.....just look in their eyes.

Being brand new to homeschooling, I really need the encouragement I receive from the Daily Focus. It gives me reassurance that my decision to pull my children out of public school and begin them on homeschooling was the right choice. It comes with it's own challenges, but I think the blessings and joy far out way anything else. I pray God will guide and direct me as I continue on this journey.

I find some of the devotions are a bit out there. She is speaking from the past and not the present. Most of what we read is of what she wishes she would have done. Before, you respond please read.

P.S. I have homeschooled 6 other children my own.

Dear Sister in Christ, Having homeschooled 6 children myself I believe she is speaking from experience. Whether it\'s what she wishes she would have done or what she did,the point is a lesson is being taught. I find that her writings both bless and convict me. It helps to have an encouragement to be our best. Donna D

I am on here just about everyday. I give almost everyone a positive rating, as long as the writings are from the heart, and most are.

I don\'t give negative ratings, even if I feel that the person is wrong.

Today I am going to say something, and I hope I do not offend too much. This was a beautiful devotional about a Mom waking up and having her 2 little ones snuggled in her bed. She is able to lead that into word about the Holy Spririt and how we can apply it. I loved it.

Yesterday, one person wrote the same negative comment like 3 times, once is enough. I have read a few different people coming to this site and they seem to be encouraged and then comment they are leaving because people are \"fighting\" on here over a free devotional.

We are Christian Sisters and Brothers here, lets try to the best of our ability to treat the Author and others on this site, the way Jesus would treat us. I\'m just saying lets be united and enjoy these devotionals. I am not being critical of today as much but yesterday and some other days some people are getting all stressed out over a devotional, with a prayer in it. WWJD?

I hope you all have a Blessed and prosperous day in your Homeschooling today.

Thank you for this devotional. It was right in line with my prayers this morning. You served as an oracle yet again! Blessing to you!

JODI N 09/25/2012 06:31:46

Thank you for the devotional! I especially like this one! Like some of the other readers, I also look for my devotional first thing each morning. They are so encouraging!
