I love the sweet salty air.
I love the sound of the crashing waves.
The waves love to play with us.

Good night ocean.
Sing me a lullaby.

Upon winning first place, Elizabeth's mother, Cristin, said, "Thank you again for selecting Elizabeth as your winner. She is beyond excited and is sharing the news with everyone. We really appreciate this opportunity!"

Cool Summer

By diving into the pool
On summer's hot day.

Summer Bliss

Summertime to me is 20 things

The beat of a red-winged blackbird's wings

The feel of bare feet on the street

The slap of a jump rope on the concrete

The sound of the lawn mower and weed whacker

The bliss of being a total slacker

Fireworks and sparklers at night

The feeling of smallness when flying a kite

The waves that wash upon the beach

Sticky fingers when eating a peach

Green grass between your toes

Watching as the garden grows

Swimming all day at the pool

Watching TV in air-conditioned cool

Campfires that flicker and flare

Carnival rides that spin you up in the air

Dancing to music with friends

The sad feeling when it all ends

Trampoline jumping

Back thumping

Going on trips and thinking of all the friends I'll miss

This is summer bliss

AOP would like to say a big "thank you" to everyone who entered this year's Summertime Poetry Contest, as well as a special congratulations to all the winners. Be on the lookout for more giveaways and competitions coming soon!
