The Five Most Generous States and Cities

Wyoming may have the smallest population of any U.S. state, but that hasn’t stopped the residents of the Equality State from earning the title of the most generous people in the country.

According to OfferUp, an online marketplace with an emphasis on in-person transactions, Wyoming earned this year’s honorable distinction by having the most free listings during the first eight months of 2020. All of the Top 5 states came from the Midwest or Northwest regions.

A competitor to Craigslist, OfferUp also released a list of the Top 5 most generous cities. In some cases, multiple cities in close proximity were grouped together.

4. Amarillo, TX
5. Champaign/Springfield/Decatur, IL

As a positive sign that even a worldwide pandemic can bring out the best in people, the website also reported that the overall percentage of free items posted on their selling and sharing website was up nearly 25% from 2019.
