The Homeschooler's 23rd Psalm

"I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep" (John 10:11).

The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.

He maketh me to live on less sleep:
He leadeth me through the noise of many voices.

He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me to teach
The right lessons each day, for His name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of undone
Laundry and kitchen messes, I will fear no evil:
For thou art with me, my teacher's guides and
Answer keys, they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
Of threatening school officials and critical family members:
Thou anointest my head with heavenly wisdom, my cup runneth over.

Surely educated and godly children shall follow after me
All the days of my life: and I will dwell again one day
In a clean house with the Lord forevermore.

Praise God, we do have a good Shepherd who leads us through every homeschooling problem and provides for our every need. Best of all, our Shepherd knows us and promises never to desert us when the wolf comes seeking to destroy (John 10:11-13). When we listen to the Shepherd's voice and follow Him, we are sure to receive a great reward as we reach the peaceful green pastures of Christ-like, educated children. "And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away" (1 Peter 5:4).

Father, how I praise You for leading my children and me in the path of homeschooling! Without You, we surely would be confused and lost. We come to You again this day and pray for Your continued blessings as we follow You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I thought I was the only one in the entire world who had a sink full of dishes. I used to not be like that and I have had a hard time with it and felt like a failure to some degree, or that I just wasn't doing everything right.

Thank you for this prayer today!!!! It was well needed for me!!!!

Thank you! Sometimes it seems like I can't get anything finished and everybody needs something all at once. Thank you for reminding me that I'm not alone, and that it's okay for the education of my children to take priority over life's everyday messes. Praise the Lord for always sending a word of encouragement when I need it.

Sink full of sirty dishes - check

Carpet in serious need of vacuuming - check!

Clothes in the washer, dryer, and many piles that need to be sorted and folded - check!

No idea what we are gonna eat for dinner - check!

Spent 3 hours this morning talking with my 14 year old about what it means to be a teeneager loved by God - priceless!

I wouldn't trade a clean house for that ever!!

I can surely relate to this poem. I absolutely love homeschooling. Yes my house is a mess but my kids are not! I would like to ask all homeschoolers who read this to pray for my situation. Next year I may have to work but I want to continue homeschooling. Grant it that I may work at the private school that my children would be attending but my heart is in homeschooling my own kids. I already applied but I have also asked Our Good Shephard to close doors that need to be closed. He knows my heart....

Through all the trials and errors of life I'm very blessed that the Lord is giving me this time with my daughter to help mold her into a great christian. The house problem just shows someone lives here.

My two oldest sons are grown and I lived in a clean house, a lonely one. We have adopted two other children and the noise is bliss, the messes will pass, but changed lives are forever. God cares about souls and lives. I do the basics in housecleaning....for health....but the rest can wait. I spoke to other homeschool moms who say they won't have anyone over because their house is a mess. Guess what?! We all have messy houses, so we all understand...probably more than others would. Take heart, God is proud of His good and faithful servants.

I am going to start home schooling this fall and love your posts!! Thank you.

I wrote this a couple months back and wanted to share.

A psalm of house work

House work is my shepherd I shall not want..

It makes me scrub and vacuum.

It leads me to pick up toys and books

It guides me down the path to burn trash,

For in cleans name sake.

Yea though I walk

Through the valley of dirty laundry,

I will fear no stain,

For clorox is with me,

It smells good and disinfects ,

That comforts me.

I clear the table before me

Dishes are my enemies,

I fill my sink with soap & hot water ,

My dish pan overflows.

Surely laundry and dishes will follow me

All the days of my life,

And I will dwell in the house cleaning

Forever.

This is quite humorous, in so many ways. I can certainly relate. And I really do like it and laughed for a while after reading this morning.

But, I am thankful that I have my son to clean up after, and I know you all feel the same way too.

My friend has been sharing 2 extremley sad stories of children being brought home to Jesus at such young ages, my heart aches, at this point, I can no longer listen to any more of the journaling that the parents did throughout the one childs illness. May God be with those parents.

So, I will Thank God for every towel left on the floor, every dish not put in the sink, and everytime I have to repeat "did you forget to..."( Even though I may get a little crabby sometimes).

I know someone blogged similar to this the other day on AOP, just being thankful to the Lord for ALL the things that we share with our children, messy and all!

CHERISH K 06/07/2012 11:14:09

Tho the house work seems never ending sometimes.

Being a Mom of four beautiful girls is the most rewarding thing I can do with my life. I thank God everyday that I can be home with them.

As for losing one it is a pain no parent should have to go through, our son was stillborn 6 1/2 years ago now and not a day go\'s by that I don\'t think about him, wonder who he would have been . But I am in a place now where I know he is in Heaven with our heavenly Father and there is no better place for him.

Only Christ knows what his plan is for us.
