Undeserved Love

"But by the grace of God I am what I am" (1 Corinthians 15:10a).

The email was waiting for me when I arrived at work. The message was short, sweet, and simply read, "I love you forever, Mom!" Instantly, I was taken back in time to my blond, blue-eyed, five-year-old daughter as she stood in front of me with pigtails, a toothless smile, and a book tucked under her arm. I smiled and thanked God again for the privilege of homeschooling my children. What a blessing they had been and were continuing to be in my life!

Tears filled my eyes as I read again my daughter's expression of love. This time, my thoughts flew back to another young girl who had treated her parents quite differently. Painful choices and foolish rebellion had put her parents through misery. I was that young girl, and I heard again the hateful words I had said to my father in anger. My past actions stood as a stark contrast to my daughter's declaration of love. I realized again how deeply I had hurt my family. How undeserving I was to have been given a daughter who was such a joy!

Does Satan ever remind you of your shameful past to make you feel unworthy of love? You don't need to listen to his accusations anymore! No sin is bigger than the depths of God's love and grace. "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1a). If you have confessed your sin before God in repentance and received His forgiveness, your sins are removed as far as the east is from the west, and God remembers them no more (Psalm 103:12). Praise God for the immeasurable grace He freely gives to all who are in Christ Jesus! "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace" (Ephesians 1:7). The next time Satan comes to remind you of your past, just remind him of his future and Christ's blood that was given for you!

Jesus, thank You for dying on the cross for me and lifting my burden of sin. I stand amazed at the many undeserved blessings You've given me and humbly worship and thank You for Your forgiveness. In Your holy name, Amen.

Thank you for your writings and words of scripture. I was feeling very sad this morning and this brought a breath of fresh air from the Lord for me...

Certainly a message I needed to hear today. Was being reminded again of past sins from over 20 years ago and asking God's forgiveness yet again. I know He has forgiven me, but it is also good to confess all your sins and be completely clean in your conscience. As long as the feeling of condemnation isn't there, then it is simply having a closer relationship with Him, and if it is, it's discernment to know if it's God prompting you to confess or the devil wanting you to feel bad. If I've already asked forgiveness before, then I can assume it's the latter and thank God for His forgiveness and move on. In reflecting on my past sins, it's as if the person I was isn't me at all anymore and for that I can be grateful. I don't even know who that person was. Someone who wasn't thinking clearly. But Christ's Light makes all things clear. We are made new and cannot return to the old man if we are truly now in Christ Jesus. Thank you Lord for your forgiveness, mercy, love and grace. Amen

I sooo love this!! Being reminded that I can "remind Satan of his future" sure puts things into perspective for me. Thanks!

Thank you so much for that reminder today. I needed to hear that I am forgiven so that I am not constantly defeated by my own thoughts of incompetance.

Thank you so much for the reminder that I have been forgiven of sins past, present and future. It did make me smile to think Satan may make me feel shame now and again, He is headed for an eternal ending in shame. We serve an Awesome God! and again I say Amen

I too was a rebellious teen and my rebelliousness continued into my early 20's. The Lord forgave me and healed me and brought me a loving husband who serves the Lord and 4 amazing boys!! God is good!! Satan has tried to bring me down too by reminding me of my past sins. But God does bring healing!!

WOW that was awesome. I really needed those words.

PENNY S 01/23/2012 05:04:27

I need to tell you this. Was asking for God to speak direct words to me and quickly. My husband and I are making a decision of weather to show total Mercy and Grace to my brother. A big risk to us. Anything could happen. I asked for God's words to be so clear to me very soon. Was going to read the bible, but read my emails first. You have been God's mouthpiece today. Thank you so much, you don't know what this means to me. xoxox Penny
