6 Must-Do Springtime Activities

This spring, savor that short and precious period of perfect weather by heading outdoors with your family to enjoy six exciting springtime activities.

Visit a farm.
From blooming flowers and budding trees to baby animals, signs of new life are everywhere on the farm during spring. Consider making a smush book before you go, so your children can record notes and drawings of the things they see and learn.

Hit the trails and look for signs of spring.
Spend the day hiking or biking and keep an eye out for the return of robins, blooming flowers, budding trees, and other indicators that spring has arrived.

Experiment with bubbles.
Although regular bubbles excite young children, bouncing bubbles that they can hold in their hand are sure to impress! Watch a short video to learn how to make them with your homeschooler.

Catch night crawlers and go fishing.
Night crawlers litter the sidewalks after a heavy spring rain. Head outside early on a damp spring morning and collect your bait. Then, spend the afternoon fishing at a local lake or river.

Shop at the farmers’ market.
A fun place to purchase your favorite fruits and veggies, the farmers’ market is also a great place to incorporate real world lessons. If you’re feeling ambitious, consider planting your own garden and participating as a vendor throughout the summer.

Explore the zoo.
A trip to the zoo is always better when you can enjoy the outdoor exhibits. Pick a day when the weather is just right and spend it observing your homeschooler’s favorite animals.
