Top-Selling Author Writes About Her Inspirational Homeschool Journey

A nationally syndicated talk radio host and top-selling author is garnering attention for her new book about her inspirational journey as a homeschool mom.

Sam Sorbo released her book titled They’re Your Kids: An Inspirational Journey from Self-Doubter to Home School Advocate on April 30, 2016. In two months, the book has climbed to #4 on the Amazon best sellers list for homeschooling. In an interview with The Daily Signal’s Genevieve Wood, Sorbo said it wasn’t an easy decision for her to homeschool.

“I went to Duke University, I studied biomedical engineering, and I speak five languages, yet I felt inadequate to teach my children. How pathetic is that?” Sorbo asked. “We’ve been trained to send our kids to school, and that is the one success the school system has actually achieved: in convincing everyone that their kids have to attend public schools or something like it.”

However, she quickly learned that homeschooling was the best educational option for her children in light of our nation’s failing system that features a high dropout rate and test scores that are significantly behind other countries in math, reading, and science.

“I think children are a lot brighter than we are allowing them to be,” Sorbo said. “We developed an industrialized version of education, and it doesn’t work because one size doesn’t fit all.”

Sam Sorbo is the wife of actor Kevin Sorbo, who played a key role in the popular 2014 film God’s Not Dead. Together, they have three children.
