35 Random Acts of Kindness for Kids

Many times the smallest acts can make the biggest impact. Random Acts of Kindness Day is celebrated each year on February 17. Created in Denver, Colorado, in 1995 by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation, the day is a day to encourage everyone to make the world a better place by making kindness part of our everyday lives.

Teach your children to raise someone up with their words or actions with our list of 35 random acts of kindness.

1. Tell someone why he or she is important to you.
2. Write a thank you note to a church leader.
3. Share a laugh with someone who needs it.
4. Be a positive influence on others.
5. Read a book to a family member.
6. Include someone new in your friend group.
7. Do a favor for someone today.
8. Share your toys with your siblings.
9. Make a bookmark and leave it in a library book.
10. Do a chore for someone.
11. Use only positive words.
12. Let someone go ahead of you in line.
13. Say thank you.
14. Give an extra hug to your parents.
15. Call your grandparents just to chat.
16. Return a cart inside the store.
17. Hold the door for a stranger.
18. Pick up litter on the playground.
19. Bring a neighbor’s garbage can up their driveway.
20. Rake leaves or shovel snow for a neighbor.
21. Tell a loved one how important he or she is to you.
22. Write a thank you note to your mom or dad.
23. Clean your room without being asked.
24. Help your sibling with a homeschool assignment.
25. Ask someone playing alone to play with you.
26. Pick up trash in your neighborhood.
27. Pick a few toys to donate.
28. Send a card to a soldier.
