Beyond the Mask Feature Film Created by Homeschoolers

Beyond the Mask, a feature film created by a team of 400 homeschoolers, is scheduled to hit 100 theaters coast to coast on June 5 after setting a new record for the largest on-demand theatrical release in history in April.
Christian NewsWire reports that the PG-rated film appeared in more than 440 theaters nationwide in April. Over the course of two weeks, the film “posted a box-office-leading per screen sales average for the Monday-Wednesday time frame.”
The faith-filled adventure is a $4 million production that tells the story of an assassin for the British East India Company who seeks to redeem his life by defusing a plot against the American Colonies. Starring Andrew Chaney, Kara Killmer, and John Rhys-Davies, the film carries a powerful message that true hope can only be found in Jesus Christ.
“With themes highlighting forgiveness, redemption, and fighting for one’s beliefs, this amazing movie has earned our Faith-Friendly Seal for ages 12 and older,” wrote Edwin L. Carpenter in his review for the Dove Foundation. “The film is a stunning visual feast!”
Screenwriter Paul McCusker, who has played a key role in the success of Focus on the Family’s Adventures in Odyssey series, hopes Beyond the Mask can be a turning point in Christian film making, venturing into the spiritually uncharted territory of action/adventure.
“It's kind of like C.S. Lewis said about the Narnia stories: 'If people get the faith aspect, that's great. And if they don't, at least hopefully they've heard a good story,’” McCusker said in Plugged In’s movie review. “I think that's probably the better way to do things.”
