Sarae Billhimer, an 11-year-old homeschooler from Kimberly, Idaho, has helped launch a successful shoe drive for people in Africa.
According to the Twin Falls Times-News, Sarae enlisted help from her homeschool friends to try to make a positive impact in the world. So far, they have collected more than 100 pairs of shoes.
“We are just trying to get as many shoes as we can,” said Sarae.
Donations of new and lightly worn pairs of shoes for children and adults are being collected through January 7, 2016. For more information, including how you can help these young homeschoolers making a difference, follow the links in this article.
“It teaches them to look beyond themselves and see that there is really a lot of need out there,” said Sarae’s mother, Jennetta. “It prepares them to serve others in the future.”
