Homeschoolers in grades 6-12 who are passionate about science are invited to attend the Extreme STEM Symposium in Washington, D.C.
X-STEM is a “TED-style” conference that features interactive presentations and workshops from industry leaders and STEM role models like Ann Makosinski, a teenager who created a flashlight that uses heat from her hand for power.
The all-day event is scheduled for April 14, 2016, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Topics covered include space exploration, paleontology, bio-inspired robotics, marine biology, alternative biofuels, eco-friendly vehicle innovation, and more.
Space is limited, so those interested are encouraged to register as soon as possible. According to HSLDA, homeschool families can bring up to 7 attendees for free by registering with code X-STEM7. Students can also follow the hashtags #XSTEM and #Scifest to stay up-to-date on the latest news about the conference.
