Potential Presidential Candidate Ben Carson Supports Homeschooling

In the News

With the next presidential election still 20 months away, potential candidate Ben Carson hasn’t said whether or not he intends to officially make a run for the White House; however, he has made it clear where he stands on his educational beliefs.

In a recent speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Carson said he is opposed to Common Core State Standards and is an advocate for homeschooling.

“We need to recognize education is the great liberator in our country. No one has to be a victim,” said Carson. “The best education is the education that is closest to home, and I've found that for instance homeschoolers do the best, private schoolers next best, charter schoolers next best, and public schoolers worst.”

A retired neurosurgeon who worked at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and was the first doctor to successfully separate conjoined twins at the head, Carson has also spoken out against the Affordable Care Act and has been labeled a staunch social conservative. According to the polls, this isn’t the last time you’ll hear Ben Carson’s name in the next year and a half.

As The Atlantic reported, “polls in key primary states regularly show Carson running ahead of candidates Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Rick Perry.”

As a homeschooler, how closely do you follow politics?

Unfortunately, he does not have the same zeal for the sanctity of marriage as defined by God's Word, so, no.
